24,901 mile is the equatorial circumference of the earth. The 24901-mile-wide Red Line art exhibition is a critical response to the global censorship red line set by the Chinese Communist Party. Curated by diaspora artists C&G Artpartment, they hope to continue defending the freedom of expression of Hong Kong artists and Hongkongers even from afar. This exhibition aims to connect Hong Kong artists with artists from other Southeast Asian countries who experience the same censorship struggles, because C&G believe solidarity strengthens the fight for freedom and human rights against authoritarian regimes.

An artist sharing session with Fredie Chan will take place Thu 9 June, 5-8pm at Bloc Projects.

We will screen a film that the artist no longer feels safe to show in Hong Kong and Fredie will talk about how Hong Kong practitioners are continuing their work in the current political atmosphere.

C&G (Clara CHEUNG & Gum CHENG Yee Man) are two Hong Kong artists who founded the art space C&G Artpartment in Hong Kong, in 2007. With a strong concern for the local art ecology, C&G’s art practices respond to social and cultural issues. Their goal is to fill a gap in the contemporary art scene, to allow space for the exchange of ideas. In the 14 years of its running, C&G Artpartment curated over 100 art exhibitions with the participation of over 100 local artists, whose work responded to the social and cultural issues in Hong Kong.
