Members Call out: Bloc Billboard Commission 2026-7

Deadline: 12 October 2026, 12pm


We are delighted to announce our annual open call for the Bloc Projects Members Billboard Commission. This is an excellent opportunity for the selected artist to exhibit their work in a public context. 

Some helpful guidelines for potential applicants:

  • Consider the site, location and potentials of the billboard

  • The billboard is an audiovisual experience and should consider what the sound possibilities are (e.g. audio description, field recording, a conversation snippet, etc.). Visitors on site will access this via a QR code and we will include the sound file alongside the billboard image on our website. 

  • The city centre averages around 400,00 weekly visitors going from place to place. To command their attention, we recommend that the billboard be visually compelling and/or surprising.

  • There will be 4 weeks from the point of invitation to finalise artworks. 

  • Visit our archive to get an idea of our past billboard commissions. 

Call-out live date: 10 Sep 2026

Artist fee: £750.00
Billboard production and installation costs will be covered by Bloc Projects

To apply:

  • Tell us what you’d like to do in 500 words or less

  • Provide an artist statement in 200 words or less.

  • Please include relevant images. 

  • All of the above should be in a single PDF or .doc file. This can also be a video of 3 minutes or less, please attach relevant images if you are submitting a video.

  • You may share a URL link with up to 10 images of your current practice in the application. If this is your website or Instagram, please signpost us to the specific works you want us to look at. 

  • Include a completed Equal Opportunities form.
