Blueprints for the Otherwise, Week 1: Reading, walking & sharing bread

22 & 23 April

Every Friday and Saturday between 22 April and 7 May, we are going on walks and bike rides; cooking and eating food; and channelling rage through a group workshop at the gallery. We are looking forward to embodying and working through some of the key reflections from the last twelve months on / around ‘critical care’.

These events mark the official handing over of the Blueprints for the Otherwise residency from JJ Chan to collaborating artists Amy Sharrocks and Udith Thakre. They will continue to examine the potentials of socially responsive art infrastuctures via Bloc Projects as an organisation.

Fri 22 April, 2-3:30pm: Reading & short walk

Meet us at the gallery for a session of group reading and walking. Choose from a range of reading materials — poems, fiction, magazines, theory and our new publication Blowing Water — and digest it on a short walk following the river that runs below Bloc Projects towards the Sheffield’s train station. Talk it through with different walking partners. You are welcome leave partway through if you cannot stay for the whole duration.

Dress for the weather, wear sensible shoes and come having eaten your lunch!

Limited spaces so please book. Also, let us know in good time if you need to cancel your space so we can give it to someone else.

Sat 23 April, 2-6pm: Baking & eating the words

Join in the flatbread making and eating while reading and digesting the Blowing Water publication (along with other reading materials). We are also inviting any spontaneous thoughts and reflections to be written on our walls, to literally impress your ideas upon the structures of our gallery.

No need to book; just show up.
