Join parent-and-child artist duo Assunta and Lou for a free art workshop to draw, paint and print together! Pick from 3 different days/times.
Bloc Projects are excited to host this free art workshop facilitated by the parent-and-child artist duo Assunta and Lou. They have been working together making prints, drawings and paintings for over five years and are holding their first solo exhibition at our gallery.
To celebrate and share the fun, we are inviting fellow parents/carers and children to come make with Assunta & Lou this half-term! Your work may be selected to be shown alongside the existing exhibition (yes, you can take it home with you when it's over).
A few notes:
While we will use high quality, washable materials, we recommend that you come in clothes that you won't mind getting a little messy in
All children must be accompanied by an adult
Each ticket is for a family of up to 2 adults and up to 2 children
The workshop is most suitable for children between 3 - 11 year old, but we welcome people of all ages to join in
See you in May!
Lou is ten years old and has been collaborating with her mother Assunta since 2020.
Assunta Ruocco is an Italian and Belgian artist and researcher based in Nottingham, and a Lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Lincoln. Her practice spans drawing, printmaking, photography, and digital technologies, with a sustained focus on collaboration, care, and the conditions of cultural and academic labour. Since 2020 she has developed a long-term collaborative project with her daughter Lou, exploring intergenerational collaboration and the practical realities of working and researching together. This work has been supported by Arts Council England and shown at Eastside Projects, Two queens, Primary Nottingham, Stryx Gallery Birmingham, the Storey Gallery Lancaster. Assunta and Lou also run regular art workshops for children and parents and carers at Nottingham Central Library.
