For the first billboard commission of 2025, Bloc Projects is delighted to present Hope & Ponies by Two Destination Language.

Against a background of military conflicts, war crimes, a politics of division and failure to tackle environmental crises, Hope & Ponies determinedly focuses on hope. The artists listened to stories from people across the UK - people who have always lived here, people who have moved here, and people for whom it is a temporary home. Some of the hopes shared have been made into banners, created from upcycled materials, which travel with the artists.

Visiting the northernmost part of the UK, in the Shetland Islands, they met the hardy ponies at the ‘edge of the world’ whose story resonates disturbingly. The billboard image (by photographer Beth Chalmers), and the accompanying audio, comes from that journey to make a film, They Promised Us Ponies, as part of the project.

Inside Bloc Projects, there is an opportunity to sit and reflect, and to share your reflections on hope, and your hopes for the future, with the artists -- perhaps leading to a new banner for the growing collection.
