We have some important news:
In many ways, 2024 has been a very successful year at Bloc Projects. Some highlights have been launching our off-site work with C & G Artpartment; exploring bereavement with Chris Alton & Emily Simpson; and considering disability access with Helen Stratford.
However, as with many small arts organisations in the UK, our funding situation is precarious. We rely on a variety of sources and have faced our fair share of bid rejections this year, including one recently that would have been a key piece of the funding jigsaw for the coming financial year. Yet we are fortunate to have the support of a resourceful and active board, who are helping us map out our forthcoming trajectory and are reminding us to work within capacity.
At the same time, our Co-Director Zoë Sawyer has just begun her maternity leave (congratulations!). This leads us to conclude that a pause in our programme would be needed to regroup, focus and fundraise.
