Operating in the teetering space between cautiousness and apprehension, Bronwyn Wilkinson has always found solace in the digital plain, be that running through a dungeon in Skyrim for the fourth time or in a video editing suite. The artist considers themselves a staunch defender of the poor image, as a subject of discussion and a material source.

Headphones in, a Barbara Moore arrangement plays, she begins sifting through desktop folders to find images she has created as a starting point, reactivating and repurposing. Through disrupting and distorting the surface a distinct visual language began to emerge. Textures and isolated floating forms are born out of the deterioration of pixels, purely abstract and sustained by the screen.

Bronwyn is interested in the dynamic between working digitally and returning to traditional ways of working. Midnight Bossanova is Bronwyn's first solo exhibition.

Bronwyn Wilkinson completed her MFA at Sheffield Hallam University in 2020. Past exhibitions include: Animal pARTy, Victoria Works, Sheffield, UK (2020), Infinite Zest, As Of Now Gallery, Brooklyn, USA (2018), Mis(information), Old Post Hall, Sheffield, UK (2018), What Is The Sound Of Ice Melting? The Grace, Sheffield, UK (2018), Platform 18, Millenium Gallery, Sheffield, UK (2018) amongst others.
