Lionel Dobie Project Cha.let Residency: David McLeavy
29 July - 24 August
Launch Event: Friday 09 August
Free & open to all
Bloc Projects have hosted the Lionel Dobie Project Cha.let in our courtyard throughout July, and through this we invited Sheffield based artist David McLeavy to undertake a research project.
David has focused on developing his understanding of intersecting social, performative and curatorial practices in a project which draws from his long term interest in Le Tour de France as a participatory sporting and cultural phenomenon. David will talk informally about his project with visitors, and has produced a two colour Risograph print for the event which will be available for sale.
David McLeavy graduated from Sheffield Hallam University 2013 with BA (Hons) Fine Art in 2011. His solo exhibitions include Villa - South Square Gallery, Bradford, 2013; The Result Of A Concrete Apple – Supercollider, Blackpool, 2012 and Calculated Incidents – Red Gallery Of Contemporary Art, Hull. Group exhibitions include Open Plan Living – CUSP, Leicester, 2012. David lives and works in Sheffield.
The Manchester based Lionel Dobie Project Cha.let hosts a series of quick-fire research residencies which sit alongside their overall programme of six month curatorial residencies and accompanying ongoing projects.
