Jasleen Kaur (b.1986) is an artist currently living and working in London. Brought up in a traditional Sikh household in Glasgow, her work is an ongoing exploration into the malleability of culture and the layering of social histories within the material and immaterial things that surround us. Her practice examines the hierarchy of histories and labour using a range of mediums and methods including sculpture, video, conversation and cooking.

Recent and ongoing commissions include The Goethe Institute, V&A Museum, Eastside Projects, MIMA, Glasgow Women’s Library, Baltic 39 Figure Three and Art on the Underground. She was awarded the Jerwood Makers Open 2015 and her work is part of the permanent collection of the Royal College of Art and Crafts Council.

Salon 18 forms part of Making Ways, a new programme supported by Sheffield Culture Consortium through Arts Council England to showcase, celebrate and develop the exceptional contemporary visual art produced in the city.
